FMR welcomes Dr. Adriana Alejandro Osorio (left) and Dr. Lynn Broaddus (right) to our board of directors.

FMR is thrilled to welcome two new board members this summer: Dr. Adriana Alejandro Osorio and Dr. Lynn Broaddus.

Dr. Adriana Alejandro Osorio

Adriana is a social justice leader who is passionate about issues affecting children around the world. She has spent her career in the nonprofit and philanthropy sector, leading efforts to advance global health and development, and amplify children's rights in the U.S. and abroad.

A native of Puerto Rico, she considers the Caribbean the most sacred of places, where she developed a deep connection to the rivers, waterfalls and beaches there. She now makes her home in St. Paul where her family regularly visits the beautiful riverfront parks and the Mississippi River inspires in her wonder and gratitude.

Adriana was drawn to FMR in part because of its growing emphasis on youth environmental leadership development. She says, "I am passionate about leaving a better world for our next generation, focusing on social justice and climate change. I look forward to serving with FMR to engage youth in decisions that directly influence the river's wellbeing, addressing climate challenges and ensuring a resilient future for this invaluable ecosystem."

Dr. Lynn Broaddus

Dr. Lynn Broaddus brings many years of water and environmental policy experience as well as an extensive background in nonprofit leadership to our board.

Her consultancy, Broadview Collaborative, Inc., serves private sector, nonprofit and philanthropic clients throughout North America, and is known for offering new ways of thinking about the crucial water and climate challenges of our day. She is recognized for advancing concepts of distributed water infrastructure and for her leadership of "Charting New Waters," a six-year dialogue convened by The Johnson Foundation at Wingspread, bringing hundreds of leaders together to address U.S. water sustainability and resiliency.

Lynn has also held leadership roles with Milwaukee Riverkeeper®, The Nature Conservancy and NatureServe. She earned her Ph.D. from Duke University, her MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and her bachelor's degree in environmental sciences from the University of Virginia. Lynn is also a past board member/board president of the Water Environment Federation, River Network, River Alliance of Wisconsin, the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies and a former non-resident senior fellow with the Brookings Institution. Lynn is a native Virginian who has lived in (and loved!) Minneapolis since 2017.

Lynn says she's excited to join the FMR board because "our rivers and waters cannot advocate for themselves — they need groups like FMR and the people behind it to ensure their protection and restoration."
